James 2:17 (NRSV)
"So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead."
Faith without action leads to passivity. Romans 10:17 tells us that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. While listening to a powerful and uplifting sermon is commendable, faith remains superficial and lacks depth unless it is followed by action.
After hearing the word, there is always a call to action for the listener. At some point, we have all heard God’s word but failed to activate our faith through action. Many believers and non-believers alike practice passive faith—believing without action. Without action, complacency inevitably sets in.
The enemy rejoices when believers sit on their faith rather than putting it into practice. A passive Christian poses no threat to the kingdom of darkness. But now is the time to walk in active faith—a faith that produces results.
You are not just a hearer of the word; you are a doer. Stand firm in faith and step into what God is calling you to do. Whatever it is, He will provide the grace and passion for you to finish well.
