The Word will set you Free

Writer: Latisha LambertLatisha Lambert

John 8:31-32

" Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

We can be held hostage by a lie until we are freed by the illumination of God's Word. Knowing the truth of Hid Word transforms the way we think, act, and speak. It also exposes and dismantles the enemy's strategies to keep us in darkness.

In this passage of scripture, Jesus was speaking to the Jews who believed in Him. He said, "If you continue in my word, then you are my disciples indeed." This is a life-changing truth. To gain true freedom, you must remain steadfast in the Word. When we are disciplined enough to dig deep into God's Word, we will experience revelation.

However, too many of us start strong in the truth of God's Word, only to drift away when life's challenges create a chasm between us and that truth. When our circumstances seem to contradict God's promises, we often become discouraged and begin to doubt that He cares about what we're going through. But that is the furthest thing from the truth. He absolutely cares and his promises still stands.

No matter what our circumstances suggest the reality is that God will never leave us nor forsake us. While we may have to endure seasons we would rather avoid, those seasons carry valuable lessons. Being a disciple of God requires discipline- both in receiving and walking in the Word. When we do, no hardship can rob us of the truth and the reality of what God has spoken.

When we are exposed to the light, darkness loses its power and influence over us as believers. Don't believe the lie—God is ready to illuminate your path and set you on the right course to freedom.
