Walk by the Spirit

Writer: Latisha LambertLatisha Lambert

Galatians 5:16

"So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh."

To please God, we must deny ungodly desires and choose to uphold His Word in our hearts. Walking in the fruit of the Spirit is a daily choice that requires intentionality. By staying connected to God through prayer, studying His Word, and surrounding ourselves with godly influences, we strengthen our spirit and resist the pull of the flesh.

We must continually practice restraint and self-control, especially when tempted to "give someone a piece of our mind" or handle a situation in an ungodly way. Instead, we should respond with love, patience, and wisdom, seeking the Holy Spirit’s guidance in all we do. Worship, gratitude, and speaking life over ourselves and others help us remain aligned with God’s will.

As believers, we are walking billboards for Christ. We must be mindful of what we display through our words and actions. While we will make mistakes, we should never persist in behaviors that gratify the flesh and starve our spirit. Instead, let us pursue righteousness, seeking daily renewal through God’s presence, and allowing His Spirit to lead us in every aspect of our lives.
