"What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?" Romans 8:31

I can remember growing up and witnessing so many silly fights in school. From elementary to high school, fights broke out over nonsense. I can recall boys pulling girls ponytails because they wanted the attention of the girl that they liked, and those girls turning around and yelling to "stop" at the top of their lungs! I saw girls argue over boys and games taken way out of control.

Then there were the more serious fights. These escalated beyond words and now came to the point of backing up the smack you talked all day long in school. Guys and girls alike had their "crew" behind them and would often egg on the conflict. Needless to say, many fights happen over instigation. However, one of the main rules back in the day when a fight was about to occur was; no one should jump in. Fighting one on one allowed both individuals to hash it out without interference. Some times it was honored and other times it wasn't.

However honorable, it's not applicable in all cases. Now, when I think about spiritual battles, the scripture tells us that we don't have to fight in our own strength and on our own. This should be music to our ears, but we often forget that we have help. The enemy's job is to make us believe that we are all alone. If we believe the lie, then we are now fighting spiritual warfare with a major disadvantage. He eagerly bates us into a fight that we were never made to fight alone much less engage in.

Other times, we don't pick the fight, the fight picks us. When the enemy picks the fight, and you have unclean spirits instigating. The scripture tells us what I response should be in those instances. Our job: kindly remind the devil who is in your corner. This is our moment to speak the truth and declare the sovereignty, might, and power of our God.

This is the fight that we never have to "fight fair". Don't allow the enemy to convince you that you should fight without your help. As believers, we fight by faith. We know that God's word takes precedence over all the works of the enemy. We just have to stand our ground. His job is to move you out of your position, change your confession and lure you into the ring with him. Don't fall for the trap, you are smarter than that!

We are blessed to have Jesus on our side. If he is for us, there is no match up! As long as the enemy can make you believe you are alone and no one has your back, your fight will be of no effect. God wants us to rise up in victory because there is nothing we could ever face that we can't overcome. We never have to fight our battles alone and we definitely don't have to fight them fair. The enemy doesn't fight fair and neither should you. Your victory lies in your understanding of who is in your corner.

“Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; Wait for the LORD!”

Psalm 27:14

Wait on the Lord, no matter how tempting it may be to step out and test your plan B. We all have back up plans "just in case" we believe that God is taking a bit longer than we like. It's no secret that we have grown to be impatient over the years. With everything else at our finger tips, its difficult to wait for something that you want "yesterday".

If God wants you to wait then it's in your best interest. He sees far down the line and he knows exactly what you need when you need it. Stepping out on what you desire will only delay what he has already prepared for you to recieve.

Many people often believe that their time is "running out" and they want to be able to experience the joy of what they have been earnestly praying for. Waiting is not easy and when you wait for a prolonged period of time it causes you to grow weary. Days turn into weeks, weeks into months and months into years. The waiting becomes unbearable and our heart becomes faint.

However, in your waiting season God is doing something amazing. He is working in you and preparing you to receive what he promised. He is preparing you to blossom into what you need to be to receive what you prayed for. You may be waiting on a spouse; hoping to become a parent; ready to be an entrepreneur or step out into ministry. No matter what it is, God knows when is the right time and will restore unto you the years that you patiently waited. He is the giver of time, if he kept you by his grace this long, surely he will continue to uphold you until the appointed time and beyond!

When you are feeling weak, tell him! He will step in and give you the grace and strength to remain. Stay faithful and he will bless you beyond what you could ever imagine for yourself.

“Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise”

Hebrews 10:35-36

Endurance is the ability to withstand hardship or adversity; especially the ability to sustain a prolonged stressful effort or activity. We can honestly say that recent events are definitely testing our endurance on all levels and in every area of our lives. Yet, in everything that we have faced we are still able to endure because our confidence was not misplaced.

God has given you his Holy Spirit to comfort you as you stand in the truth of his word. He will never leave you nor forsake you. It is because of his strength we are able to face and get through our challenging moments. Our confidence in God builds endurance, and our endurance builds resilience. We find ourselves growing stronger when we are able to trust God.

When we trust God beyond our knowledge, we are able to tap into a strength and grace that only he can give. It’s time to rest like Jesus did on a boat in the midst of the storm. Why? Because he is with us. We have to embrace and accept that powerful truth. When you believe and have confidence in God’s word, you are building endurance.

When you have the privilege to prove God and his word, you become confident with every victory and patient through every battle. Endurance is key when you are believing God to come through for you as you fight the good fight of faith.

Today, I pray that God gives you the spirit of endurance to withstand every hardship you are facing right now. May you receive new found strength and a bounce back resilience to whatever is seeking to knock you down. As you continue to stand in God’s word, may it be your shield, provision and compass. May you pursue God’s will and wholeheartedly that you may attain what he has promised to you. Amen
