Hopeful Praise

Psalm 42:11

"Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God."

The best remedy for shifting your disposition is praise. One of the greatest tools for dismantling discouragement is placing our hope in God and expressing it through exuberant praise.

Praise is the expression of honor and gratitude as an act of worship to God. It is not just a heartfelt song, an exhilarating dance, or words of admiration—it is a mindset.

In life, we will face challenges that can lead to discouragement, sadness, despair, or even depression. But God reminds us that we don’t have to remain in a downcast state. When we ask ourselves, Why am I feeling this way?, we open the door to deep reflection, allowing us to uncover the root of our emotions. This reflection also gives the Holy Spirit room to illuminate God’s Word, addressing whatever we are struggling with.

Unpacking what is often hidden can feel overwhelming, but it is a necessary practice to ensure that we remain hopeful in God and filled with praise. When our hearts are filled with hope and praise, there is no room for discouragement.

Remember to encourage and comfort yourself with the Word of the Lord. When you do, you will find that your soul is strengthened and your hope restored.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I come to You because I know You love me and have given me the great privilege of casting all my cares upon You. Today, I surrender everything that weighs my soul down. I offer myself as a living sacrifice. Fill me with Your joy and peace as I put on the garment of praise. Lord, as I consider Your goodness and faithfulness, I pray that Your Holy Spirit will refresh my soul. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Your Praise

Psalm 89:8

O LORD God of hosts, who is mighty as you are, O LORD, with your faithfulness all around you?

Your voice is unique and there is nothing more powerful. With YOUR voice you can shatter barriers, scatter the enemy and speak life. When you use your power and authority change must come. One of our greatest weapons we can use our voices for is praise.

Praise is defined as expressing a favorable judgement of or commend. When you begin to speak favorable of God's goodness over your life, your problems, challenges, setbacks and hinderances, they must respond. They have to obey the Spirit of God that lives within you.

Praise is declaring God's grace, mercy, joy, peace and faith over your life. You are making a declaration in spite of what you are faced with. Your praise is the most powerful when you don't feel like praising. It's in those moments that when you are weak, God is made STRONG! When you push past your emotions you will find a well of strength, courage and power awaiting you.

As a believer, the Bible tells us that we are victorious not because of anything we have accomplished but its because of the blood stained cross. Jesus is our righteousness and its THROUGH him we obtain all things. So, whatever may threaten your peace today, this week or month begin to praise God with all of your might. As you lift up his name you are pulling down your problems!
